Richard
Carsey returned to Little House on
the Prairie having conducted its world premiere
performances at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He has a
wide-ranging
career as conductor, pianist, arranger and actor. For eight years
he
served as the Artistic Director of the Skylight Opera Theater in
Milwaukee,
conducting over 60 productions ranging from musical theater to opera. This past year, Richard music directed HMS Pinafore and later Jacques Brel is Alive
and Well and Living in
Paris both at Skylight Opera. Highlights include the world
premiere
performances and PBS broadcast of Richard Wargo's
Ballymore; PBS broadcast of The
Mikado; Floyd Collins; Sweeney Todd;
and White Christmas. He is music
director for the world premiere of Joshua Schmidt's
A Minister’s Wife at the Writer's Theater in Chicago. He also
premiered Harry
Connick, Jr's new family
musical, The Happy Elf. As an arranger he
is doing a new orchestration for the TYA version of The Wiz
in conjunction with First Stage Children’s Theater of
Milwaukee. As an actor he has appeared
in 2 Pianos, 4 Hands in over a dozen
productions throughout the country, winning the Connecticut Critic's Circle Award for best touring production
for its
performances at Hartford Stage. Other tours have taken him to
South and
Central America, Eastern Europe, and the Arab Emirates. Richard
is now
currently in rehearsals for The Minister’s
Wife which will perform at the Lincoln Center Theatre from May
11-June 12.
